COVID-19, Coronavirus Pandemic: See what steps Villa Scalabrini has implemented to keep our resident population safe.

Effective March 16 the Administration of Villa Scalabrini Retirement Center and Special Care Unit is enforcing strict preventative measures meant to protect the health and safety of all our residents and staff.

Visitations to the facility are restricted to essential visitors only (medical service providers and those necessary for community operations.) Exceptions only for compassionate care situations.

Employees and essential visitors will have to sign in and answer a questionnaire about health and travel and will receive daily temperature checks.

New residents admissions are suspended until further notice.

Our residents are strongly discouraged from leaving the community at this time, in accordance with the CDC recommendation that seniors remain in their homes.

Residents’ families are encouraged to use alternative methods of visitation via telephone or video chat that can be facilitated by our staff.  A rolling iPad is available for facetime communications

In our Special Care Unit residents are provided with in-room dining via tray delivery for all meals.

In our Assisted Living Unit dining hours have expanded to limit group sizes. In-room service trays are available upon request, at no charge.

Activities are continuing in smaller groups to provide adequate space for the recommended social distancing. All residents’ outings are canceled for the time being.

We have reinforced safety and practice training for all our staff with heavy focus on hygiene and sanitation. We have implemented additional cleaning/deep cleaning of our facilities, including all common areas, dining rooms, bathrooms, tabletops and work surfaces as well as residents’ rooms and bathrooms. We have added additional hand sanitizing stations at entrance and exits and key contact points.

We continue to closely monitor the situation and implement the guidelines of CDC and CDPH (California Department of Public Health).

The health and wellbeing of our resident population remains our utmost priority. We appreciate your continued support and understanding. If any changes occur our families will be promptly notified.
